First let’s look at what a roundtable is. As the name suggests a roundtable is a meeting where everyone is equal and can share views without reproach. We need both new and experienced leaders to attend, ask questions of each other and to share experiences to help each other. You also have input as to what the discussions will be.
In other words, a roundtable is a place to strengthen both the units and the district. We are all here to serve the youth of our units. Shouldn’t we give them our best by having the collective wisdom of all our leaders, which crosses generations, at our disposal? We sometimes forget we belong to a larger group in which to tap other resources.
T
his is also the place to meet and ask questions of your district volunteers. Information about coming events and training opportunities will be available.
Next time you get the e-mail reminding you that roundtable is approaching, I challenge every unit to send one leader join the discussion. By doing so you not only improve your own program, you improve everyone’s programs. After all, isn’t it why we’re here?
